Sorrymate.com Sponsors Bike Racers’ Leading ‘Survival Of The Fittest’ Series

Leading motorbike accident claims specialist firm Sorrymate.com is continuing its backing of British biking, by sponsoring the nation’s biggest motorcycle endurance racing series.

The Hottrax Endurance Series is the UK’s only domestic endurance racing championship, and sees riders compete over eight thrill-packed weekends in a series of three-hour endurance races.

Honours are awarded at each weekend’s event in three categories – national, clubman and rookie – and the chance for club-attached riders to test the staying power of themselves and their bikes around some of the UK’s best-known racing circuits.

Sorrymate’s Paul Dutton said that, apart from being a great opportunity for the company to earn valuable exposure at these huge weekend gatherings of bike fans, its sponsorship also underlined the bikers’ accident claim handling firm’s commitment to showing that biking brings together a wide range of people, all of whom appreciate the community spirit that the hobby and the sport engender.

“Here at Sorrymate.com, we’re all enthusiastic, committed bikers, who set out to understand not just the risks faced by riders, but also the enjoyment and thrills they can get out of their pastime,” said Paul Dutton.

“That’s why we get involved with events such as the Hottrax Endurance Series, because it produces great, competitive racing in an atmosphere the whole family comes out to enjoy.”

Paul added: “That philosophy of enjoying biking without having to worry about what to do in the event of an accident is how we came to develop our unique ‘Smidsy’ card, which offers bikers handy and practical tips to help them in the event of an accident while they are out riding.

“The freedom and enjoyment of biking is something legions of people love to experience, but we felt that bikers, whatever their level of experience, needed to know what they should do if they ever become involved in a mishap,” Paul added.

The Hotttrax Endurance Series showcases bike racing at a highly professional level, involving riders who have the confidence in their own and their machine’s ability to compete in a demanding series of races.

See these testing events at the following circuits during the rest of 2012: Snetterton, Anglesey International, Oulton Park, Cadwell Park, and Donington Park. Visit www.hottrax-motorsport.co.uk to see the full programme.

Win tickets to BSB!

‘Ace’ bike to be subject of unique Sorrymate.com competition at ‘greatest bike show on earth’

Already excited about greeting lots of old and new bike fan friends at the forthcoming Motorcycle News show in London, the team at motorbike accident claims specialist www.Sorrymate.com are even more thrilled to announce a rather special centrepiece on their stand.

Thanks to their good friends at the legendary Ace Cafe London, their stand at the ExCeL arena will feature the Ace 675CR Street Triple Special that is usually displayed at the cafe. Built by Jack Lilley Ltd, West London’s renowned and long established Triumph dealer in collaboration with Ace Cafe London’s Stonebridge Motor Company, the bike is a Limited Edition series of 10 individually numbered machines. Courtesy of Ace Cafe London, they’ll be running a ‘guess the mileage of the tyre’ competition involving a tyre on this machine.

Up for grabs will be two tickets to a British superbikes 2012 event of the winner’s choice.

Sorrymate.com’s Paul Dutton explained that the competition has been made possible thanks to the great working relationship the bike crash accident claim specialist has with the cafe.

“We have a sponsorship deal with Ace Cafe London, and as a result of this, we feel very privileged that they have loaned us the Ace 675CR Triumph bike, which will certainly help visitors to the Motorcycle News show find our stand,” he said.

In preparation for its’ appearance at the show, the bike has been fitted with a rear tyre from Ace Cafe London Managing Director Mark Wilsmore’s regular bike, a Triumph Speed Triple 1050, which he uses to commute to work every day – and this is the tyre which will be the subject of the competition.

The lucky entrant who gets closest to guessing the tyre’s exact mileage will win Sorrymate.com’s prestigious Superbikes tickets prize.

Said Paul Dutton: “The Ace Cafe is a legend among bike and car fans, not just across London, but the whole of the UK, and we hope that the Ace bike – along with the friendly welcome we can assure all visitors – will attract lots of people to our stand over this weekend.”

The Ace Cafe London Street Triple Special can be found on stand N320 at the Motorcycle Live show, taking place from 10am to 5pm on Thursday and Friday, February 2 and 3, and between 9am and 6pm on Saturday and Sunday, February 4 and 5.

Come and see the team from Sorrymate.com at this week’s Motorcycle News show in London, and grab your free SMIDSY card

The keen bikers from motorcycle accident claims specialist Sorrymate.com are hitting the road again this week, taking a stand at the big Motorcycle News show at London’s ExCeL arena.

“The greatest bike show on earth” will feature the hottest new bikes of 2012, and promises massive savings on all sorts of bike kit and accessories.

But one of the hottest tickets in town will be the dinky SMIDSY cards which the Sorrymate.com people will be handing out, explaining how bikers can take advantage of free legal expenses cover in the event of them having to make an insurance claim for an accident which wasn’t their fault.

All keen bikers themselves, the people from Sorrymate.com make up a team of specialist solicitors who every year advise many motorcyclists who have been involved in a non-fault accident.

Paul Dutton from Sorrymate.com explained that the firm has a stand at all the major bike shows across the UK, and over the past year has handed out thousands of SMIDSY– an acronym for “Sorry mate, I didn’t see you” – cards detailing the services he and his colleagues offer.

This includes understanding and professional handling of all motorbike accident compensation claims, when a rider has been involved in an accident which isn’t their fault.

“We love the excitement of the big shows such as Motorcycle News Live, but we also realise that, away from all the high-revving action, when bikers are out on the road, they encounter risks on the road, day in, day out,” said Paul.

“We want them to know that, if they ever need to make a motorcycle accident claim, we offer them free advice to make the process as smooth and hassle-free as possible.

“As bikers ourselves, we get just as much excitement from being at these shows as they do,” he added. “But on their way home, or just while they’re riding around, they could be the victim of an accident which isn’t their fault.

“Besides the physical injuries they might have to deal with, we want to show them that they don’t have to worry about getting advice and recompense for the damage to their bikes and any loss of income that might result.

“All they need to do is enlist our help, and we’ll make sure they know what help they’re entitled to – including the right to appoint a solicitor of their choice to handle their case.”

Sorrymate.com’s ‘smidsy’ card holders know that, if they need to make a claim, their case won’t be sold on to just any other company, but will be handled by experts.

So grab a bit of this little peace of mind by visiting the Sorrymate.com team on stand N320 at the Motorcycle Live show, taking place from 10am to 5pm on Thursday and Friday, February 2 and 3, and between 9am and 6pm on Saturday and Sunday, February 4 and 5.

The Waiting’s Nearly Over For The Winner of Superbikes Tickets…

The waiting’s nearly over for the winner of Superbikes tickets in Sorrymate.com’s massively successful Motorcycle Live show draw.

The lucky winner of tickets to a round of next year’s British Superbikes Championship in a competition held by motorbike accident claims specialist Sorrymate.com at Motorcycle Live to will be announced next week.

Sorrymate.com managing director Fergus Dalgarno will draw the name of the winner, picked from among those who used their skill to guess the mileage on a rear motorcycle tyre which was a feature of the company’s stand at the NEC show last week.

The entrant whose guess was the closest to the actual figure on each day of the show went forward into the final draw. More than 3,000 entries were made over the show’s nine days, in what Sorrymate.com’s Paul Dutton said was “possibly the best event we have exhibited at for quite some time.”

He added: “We were really pleased to see the biking public getting right behind our stance of supporting them, by making them aware of their right to appoint their own solicitor in the event of a non-fault accident.”

Several thousand Sorrymate.com ‘SMIDSY’ cards – based on the acronym ‘Sorry mate I didn’t see you’, from which the company gets its name – were also given away. Paul added: “We were even more taken aback by the incredibly positive reactions we had to these cards, which are designed as a simple way of making bikers aware of how they can best help and protect themselves in the event of an accident that is not their fault.

“It’s just one example of how we at Sorrymate.com are continually striving to educate the biking community about their rights and entitlements, with such initiatives as our ‘SMIDSY’ cards, which give a quick advice checklist for anyone involved in an accident.”

In the coming months, the Sorrymate.com team will be hitting the road, visiting bike clubs to give talks about their specially-tailored advice and legal representation services for the biking community.

“If anyone would like us to come along to their club or meeting place, just contact me at paul@sorrymate.com,” Paul concluded.

How SR-22 Insurance Can Improve A Driving Record

What any driver who has had a few too many run-ins with traffic police may have to face at some point is SR-22 insurance. According to a recently published InsuranceAgents.com article, ‘Getting Acquainted With SR-22 Insurance,’ SR-22 insurance is essential if you want to improve your driving record.

The purpose of SR-22 insurance is to prove your financial responsibility and allows you to get your driving record back on the right track.

“If you are cited by law enforcement for driving without insurance then you will be required to carry proof of SR-22 insurance for roughly three years just as if you were on probation,” the article states.

SR-22 insurance can be obtained through most insurance providers. To find out your state’s requirements, fees, and why or when you will need an SR-22 insurance policy, contact your auto insurance agent without delay.

You will need an SR-22 insurance policy if you have:
• A DWI, DUI, or any other serious moving violation
• A suspended or revoked license
• Been involved in an at-fault accident without insurance
• Made repeated traffic violations

SR-22 insurance can be a pain to file, and it can also be expensive. Visit InsuranceAgents.com to learn more about SR-22, and to request auto insurance quotes from up to five local agents.

Click Seat Belt Or Car Insurance Will Take a Hit

Most drivers have heard the “click it or ticket” expression but many don’t consider that saying as having anything to do with car insurance quotes. According to an article recently published on InsuranceAgents.com, those drivers who refuse to buckle up not only run a greater risk of seriously injuring or killing themselves in an accident but also of racking up high car insurance premiums.

“Buckling up might seem like a harmless offense but the fact of the matter is you will be ticketed and it will show up on your car insurance bills,” states the InsuranceAgents.com article, ‘How Seat Belts Affect Car Insurance Rates.’ “Not to mention the fact that buckling up could save your life in the case of an unexpected collision.”

Here is a few important reasons on why buckling up can save on car insurance:

– Car insurance companies base your rate on how much risk a driver represents. If the driver have a clan driving record with no seat belt infractions then they are considered responsible in their insurance company’s eyes. – If a driver is ticketed for not wearing a seat belt then your insurance company will find out about it and will most likely raise their premiums. – Aside from all that, wearing a seat belt is the smart and safe thing to do and can save any driver’s life in any type of collision whether it’s major or simply a
fender bender.

It’s simple and it’s quick and it makes a world of difference. If every driver simply buckled up then car insurance premiums would go down across the board and everyone would be happy. Visit InsuranceAgents.com today to find out more about the factors that go into determining car insurance rates as well as why it is important to buckle up.

New Research: The Insurance Industry Foots A GBP1.9 Billion Fraud Bill

•As the insurance industry shoulders a GBP1.9 billion fraudulent claim bill and investigators report a 44% increase in fake motor insurance claims, car insurance stealth charges are also on the up

•Compulsory excess payments have been increased by 32% in the last year from GBP129
to GBP170 – 85% of drivers would pay this charge in the event of an accident

•Drivers with a compulsory excess above GBP500 has increased almost tenfold from just 0.3% to 2.7% – 1.55% of these could pay between GBP1,000 to GBP3,000 to claim

•With over 4.4 million accidents resulting in a claim each year, this GBP41excess increase will make the insurance industry GBP154 million more in the next 12 months

•The number of drivers with a compulsory excess on their policy has jumped by 4% from 81% and currently impacts 21.5 million drivers

•On top of this, the average policy price has increased by 10% from GBP478.70 to GBP526.42 for fully comprehensive cover and almost 13% for third party

As the insurance industry foots a GBP1.9 billion fraud bill and recent reports reveal a 44% increase in false claims, new research from uSwitch.com shows that providers are strategically recouping this money from consumers by hiking compulsory excess charges by almost a third (32%) in the last year. In addition, the number of drivers being hit with a compulsory excess fee of between GBP1,000 and GBP3,000 has increased almost tenfold from just 0.3% to 2.7%. Across the country, this means that in the event of an accident, drivers will now have have to pay their insurer an average of GBP170, a fee which has gone up by GBP41 from GBP129 since August 2008.

With over one in five drivers (4.4 million) claiming on their car insurance each year, insurance providers will now be making an additional GBP154 million more from compulsory excess hikes in the next 12 months. This GBP170 compulsory excess charge combined with the average voluntary excess payment of GBP197 can make claiming for an accident a costly business. In fact, any damage that costs less than GBP367 to repair really isn’t worth making a claim.

Protect Your Taxi Company with Taxi Insurance

The main source of transportation in big cities such as New York City or Chicago, taxis offer many people the convenience of not having to deal with the responsibilities of owning a car. For a taxi company to thrive, however, it must possess a quality taxi insurance policy to protect not only their employees, but the customers as well. A recently published article on InsuranceAgents.com explains how vital taxi insurance is to a company. To compare insurance rates, fill out this form now.

“Not only are taxis a cheap alternative to owning a car, they also act as our own designated driver after a long night of over-age drinking,” the article, Taxi Insurance: Protection for Your Yellow Vehicle, reveals. “At the end of the day, however, a taxi is first and foremost a business, and any legitimate taxi company needs taxi insurance to protect their business. Operating in an industry that results in over two million passengers injured each year, taxi insurance provides taxis with the assurance that they will be protected in case an unfortunate incident occurs.”

Unlike standard auto insurance, taxi insurance provides a number of coverage options designed particularly for taxis. This includes liability coverage that protects the cab company, the driver, and the company’s assets. It also includes comprehensive coverage against vandalism, theft, fire and other damages caused by an accident.

There are certain requirements a taxi must first meet before even being considered for coverage. On top of functioning as fare-based, taxi drivers must also be between the age of 25 and 65, have a valid driver’s license for more than two years in the United States and possess a clean criminal record.

Take Action Against Car Title Fraud

Most people were raised with the value of treating others the way they would like to be treated but unfortunately in this cutthroat society we live in these days, that value gets lost and it becomes every man or woman for themselves. Car title fraud is a prime example of people taking advantage of people for an easy profit. However, car title fraud can be avoided by simply performing a vehicle title history check, according to an article recently published on InsuranceAgents.com.

Knowing why car title fraud exists and how it works is an important stop in prevention. “The main reason car title fraud exists is because states lack conformity on what constitutes a ‘salvaged car,’” states the InsuranceAgents.com article titled, ‘Car Title Fraud: An Introduction‘. “There has been a push for the federal government to step in and mandate what is considered a ‘salvaged car’ so there isn’t a discrepancy between states.”

But until the feds step up to the plate, here are a few simple tasks that be accomplished by the purchaser to avoid car title fraud.

-Perform a vehicle title history check online by running the vehicle identification number, or VIN, of any vehicle made after 1981. -Take a pick from any of the numerous Web sites designed to perform accurate and timely VIN checks.

-Purchase car title insurance. This is relatively low cost and can save bundles if the buyer runs into a fraudulent title.

Breaks From Driving Fuel Accident Rates

New research released by Lloyds TSB Insurance has revealed the serious impact of driving breaks on accident rates, as nearly 100,000 crashes caused last year were by drivers taking to the wheel after a long break from driving.

Lloyds TSB Insurance commissioned road safety experts to test the roadworthiness of licensed motorists who had not driven for six months or more. The results revealed that these drivers made four times as many serious safety errors as regular drivers, worryingly increasing their crash-risk by a quarter.

The insurer estimates that 98,000 accidents last year can be directly attributed to lack of driving practice, causing over £200 million worth of damage. Yet public awareness of the risks is low, with half a million ‘rusty drivers’ planning to take to the road in the next 12 months.

Driver ability in all key areas is impaired, according to the findings, with serious deficiencies in observation (86 per cent), speeding discipline (27 per cent), clutch control (33 per cent) and steering (13 per cent).

Crash risk is also heightened by the length of the driving ‘break’, with those taking to the wheel after a year nearly twice as likely to have an accident.

Despite the experiment revealing no marked difference in performance between the sexes, further research suggests women are more likely to take extended driving breaks than men (58 per cent vs. 42 per cent).

Commenting on the research, Karen McCarthy of Lloyds TSB Insurance, said:

“There is no substitute for practice and anyone thinking of getting behind the wheel after a long break needs to think really carefully about the risks. A simple refresher lesson or practice in a low traffic area can make a huge difference to your confidence and road awareness.”

Truck Insurance Quotes For That Trusty Pick-Up

Auto insurance should be as vehicle-specific as possible. Just like luxury automobiles require premium auto insurance, pick-up trucks require a specific policy that offers extensive coverage as well as affordable rates. According to an article recently published on InsuranceAgents.com, truck insurance can be expensive if the consumer doesn’t know what steps to take before purchasing a policy.

“With its sturdy frame, blue collar-esque design, and pension for being practical instead of flashy, you might think insuring your pick-up truck will be inexpensive,” the article titled, ‘Truck Insurance: Fill The Bed Of Your Pick-Up With Savings’. “[But] auto insurance—and more specifically truck insurance—is determined by a number of different factors that you should be aware of if you want to find the lowest possible quotes.”

The factors that insurance companies look at in determining auto insurance quotes for trucks include the age, make, model, and anti-theft devices of the truck. Those interested in the most affordable truck insurance should compare quotes before purchasing their truck since make and model do factor into premiums.

Breaking Free from SR-22 Insurance

If you’re a driver who has had a few too many run-ins with the law as of late, prepare to be filing for SR-22 insurance in the near future. Unlike other insurance policies, however, this insurance won’t provide you with protection. According to a recently published article on InsuranceAgents.com, SR-22 insurance is not something drivers want to possess.

“Like other types of auto insurance, SR-22 insurance is basically a document that proves you have financial responsibility,” the article, Getting Acquainted With SR-22 Insurance, reports. “If you are cited by law enforcement for driving without insurance then you will be required to carry proof of SR-22 insurance for roughly three years just as if you were on probation.”

Although proof of financial responsibility can be obtained through most insurance providers, it is a strenuous process. Drivers are simply better off practicing safe driving because there are several incidents that can cause you to file for SR-22 insurance. They are:

1. Committing a DWI, DUI or other serious violations
2. Having your license suspended or revoked
3. Being involved in an at-fault accident without insurance
4. Having a tendency to repeat traffic violations

GM And Chrysler Bankruptcies Bring Worries About Warranties and Auto Insurance

With the recently filed bankruptcies of both GM and Chrysler approved, consumers are flooding social media sites, blogs and advice columns with questions about car warranties and auto insurance. According to research conducted by FreeInsuranceAdvice.com, these questions primarily fall into three categories:

• Will car warranties be honored by the manufacturers and dealers?
• Does the bankruptcy filing impact existing auto insurance policies?
• How will outstanding car loans be affected?

Car warranties will be honored
A majority of the postings were related to whether GM and Chrysler car warranties would be honored. According to an interview in USAToday with Steve Harris, General Motors’ vice president of global communications, the answer is yes. In addition to the company’s backing, the government’s Warranty Commitment Plan was announced in March to reassure buyers of General Motors and Chrysler vehicles that warranty claims would be honored during the companies’ restructurings.

Auto insurance policies need to be monitored
Most people have insurance directly through major insurance companies and those policies are not affected by the bankruptcies. The financial services groups of both GM (GMAC Financial Services) and Chrysler (Chrysler Financial) are separate companies with strong financial records, despite their parent companies’ problems. It is expected that they will be affected negatively only to a small degree and for a short period of time as the companies emerge from bankruptcy. However, consumers who do have their insurance carried by these financial service groups should check with their insurance agents to ensure that coverage is adequate and continuous along with getting the best car insurance advice possible.

“Consumers are rightfully nervous but the sky is not falling,” says Michael Crosson, Publisher of FreeInsuranceAdvice.com. “These two major car manufacturers should emerge stronger, leaner and certainly more focused on creating better products. This may even include better and longer warranties and better insurance offerings. At FreeInsuranceAdvice.com, our goal is to provide the most up-to-date information as the market changes.”

Car loans unchanged
Other consumers were concerned about being credited for payments made to the financial services groups of the bankrupt companies. Consumers who have loans should continue to make their payments, according to federal authorities supervising the bankruptcies. However, for these finance companies the future is far from rosy. “Clearly, auto finance delinquencies are increasing,” says Bradley Rubin, automotive sector specialist with BNP Paribas in an interview in TheStreet.com. “We think there will be a significant increase in auto finance delinquencies this year.”

FreeInsuranceAdvice.com is a consumer information service center that provides a wide range of articles and helpful resources on auto, home, health and life insurance advice. The website was launched in March of 2009 and is one of the largest repositories of teen car insurance information available online. The company is headquartered in Gold River, CA.

With The FTC “Red Flags Rule” Deadline August 1, 2009, Fast Approaching, Ford Dealerships In Denton, Sherman And Denison, Texas Are Already Well Ahead Of The August Deadline Thanks To The Expertise Of Lionheart Assurance Solutions, LP

The FTC’s new Red Flags Rule mandates an August 1, 2009 deadline for every US auto dealership to adopt a formal program to prevent and respond to customers purchasing vehicles with stolen identities. Just this week, one dealership in Houston, Texas found itself dealing with 11 vehicles fraudulently sold to an identity thief.

lionheartassurancesolutions.com

Ford dealerships in Denton, Sherman and Denison, Texas are already well ahead of the August deadline. Over the past 3 months, these dealerships have worked with the Dallas/Fort Worth office of Lionheart Assurance Solutions, LP to prepare for the Red Flags Rule. Lionheart Assurance began by training all of their executives, creating an awareness of the new “culture of security” the FTC is expecting. Then, those executive teams began to communicate this new process to every employee in the dealership.

Employees were scheduled to attend Lionheart Assurance training sessions specifically dealing with their exposure to identity theft both directly and indirectly. For example, what if a service technician works on a vehicle and the customer has inadvertently left a document in the vehicle with personal identifying information? Maybe it’s just their payroll check stub, but the outcome could be costly for the dealer if not handled properly.

Michael McCoy, identity theft expert and author of the book, “The Silent Crime: What You Need to Know About Identity Theft”, states in his introduction, “…consumers would rather ignore risk and go on with life than fret and worry about potential identity theft. In other words, most people would rather exhibit ‘blissful ignorance’ regarding identity theft loss than proceed with the confusing, complex, time consuming, and expensive process of securing and protecting their identity”. Most of us simply are not aware of our exposure to identity theft and the trail of personal identifying information we leave unsecured.

Lionheart Assurance Solutions, LP reports that after completion of the training, employees find they change procedures in their offices and more fully verify customer’s identities. Some auto dealers are now recording finger prints on the closing sales documents.

A confidentiality document is signed by every employee indicating their understanding and completion of the training provided by Lionheart Assurance. In addition, a comprehensive identity theft product is made available as a voluntary employee benefit. Employees are given tips to protect their identities at home, such as how to protect their mail, credit cards, social security numbers and driver’s license numbers from identity thieves.

Lionheart Assurance provides periodic updates of the employee policy and trains new employees as they are hired.

Pat Parker, Sr. VP of Business Development and Training for Lionheart Assurance said, “Our role is to not only assist auto dealers in understanding how to improve security, but also to help in mitigating their liability associated with data breaches. It’s significant because if dealers don’t put a plan in place by the August 1 deadline, the FTC can fine them as much as $2,500 for selling a vehicle to a buyer with a stolen identity.” Unfortunately, the consequences for auto dealers don’t stop there. Each subsequent violation can carry a fine of up to $11,000.

In servicing auto dealers, Lionheart Assurance calls on specially trained Agents, certified to assist in the identity theft mitigation process.

As August fast approaches, buyers beware – you may find auto dealerships will ask more questions to confirm your identity and ask for other forms of identification, much like the retail industry has begun to put in place. An increasing number of dealerships now display notices that they have taken proactive steps to protect non-public information for both customers and employees.

About Lionheart Assurance Solutions, LP

As part of a comprehensive affirmative defense strategy, Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialists (CITRMS) conduct company-wide identity theft awareness training for all employees, and group identity theft protection and legal access plans are made available to all employees as payroll deduction benefits.

LV= Has Revealed That One In Six Drivers Are Breaking Child Car Seat Laws And Putting Their Young Passengers’ Safety At Risk

LV= has carried out research revealing that despite safety risks, one in six drivers break the law regarding child car seats, with family friends the most likely to put children at risk.

By law, drivers must ensure that all children younger than 12 and shorter than 135cm (4’5″) use a child or booster seat. Without this, the risk of fatality or injury in the event of an accident rises by 71% and 69% respectively.

The new laws were introduced in 2006 and the research by car insurer LV= has found many drivers are ignorant of their legal duty of care. One in five (21%) of those who fail to comply with the law say they are unaware the guidelines even exist.

Worryingly, one in ten of those who are aware of the guidelines say they just disregard them and don’t bother to fit safety seats, despite the fact that the laws were brought in to ensure that all children are protected on the roads, to reduce fatalities and injuries.

Not only is the failure to use a proper child seat dangerous for both the passenger and the driver, it also carries a potential penalty fine of £500.

The LV= study shows that children are most at risk when travelling with friends of the family, with over a quarter (26%) of those admitting to not using car child seats.

The research also found that even in cases when an appropriate car seat is used, almost a quarter of drivers (24%) say they do not check the safety seat is installed properly, potentially putting their young passengers in danger.

In 2007 there were more than 3000 child casualties as a result of road accidents, including 121 fatalities. With such high stakes, LV= is today calling on all drivers to ensure they take every precaution and install appropriate safety equipment, to protect themselves and their passengers from harm.

John O’Roarke, Managing Director of LV= Car Insurance, said: “Huge strides have been made to improve child safety on the road in recent years, not least with the introduction of compulsory child seats in 2006. However, it’s clear that many drivers are still confused about the law and for one reason or another, are not following the legislation. So we’d urge all drivers to make sure they’re aware of the guidelines – child seats can take just five minutes to install and greatly reduce the chances of injury to everyone in the car.”

LV= will automatically replace child safety seats for anyone who has taken out their car insurance policy whose car has been in an accident, even if the seat looks undamaged.
